welcome! we are Zala Wellbeing.

Zara

As founders, Leah and I were both born and raised in the South Wales Valleys and understand the problems faced by people in our area; still reeling from the pandemic on top of being an area already hugely affected by poverty and lack of services. For too long as a society we have neglected our well-being and have now reached a mental health crisis. There simply has not been a service that teaches us how to keep ourselves mentally well or how to enhance our lives with more joy. Here at Zala Wellbeing, we aim to change that.

We do this because we have experienced anxiety, depression, difficult experiences and loss just like so many people.

Zara herself is a cPTSD survivor and knows that if we live well, recovery is possible. Zara has worked in health and social care for 18 years, specifically in mental health for the past 4. She is trained in delivering psychoeducation and has supported many individuals to improve all areas of their life.

Leah

Leah has a generalised anxiety disorder and periods of depression and has overcome many of the symptoms this last year simply by listening to her own needs. Leah has worked in post-compulsory education for 12 years; 5 years teaching and in-class support and 7 years providing academic support in the Library for students that are struggling with the pressure of college. Her biggest focus over this period has been to empower learners with the skills to improve their mindset and develop coping strategies that will serve them after they leave education.

We have found our way to realising that although each person’s journey to wellness is unique, the tools you can use along the way are simple and make so much sense.

We just want to help others live full, enriched lives with confidence and intention.

Sophie

Many of you may already know me but my name is Sophie. I have worked nearly 13 years in care followed by 3 years as a qualified nurse. I currently work in Rowans Hospice in Hampshire and am pleased to have been able to accept a voluntary role as Director for Zala wellbeing.

I believe that everyone has the ability to make positive changes to their health and well-being in order to better care for their own body, mind and spirit. To have the opportunity to work for a company that can help guide people towards a more holistic and happy way of life is an honour. Zala wellbeing creates an opportunity for each and every one of its members to not only learn how to care for themselves holistically but also gives them the opportunity to share that knowledge with their community and their children and together we can work towards a healthier, happier lifestyle and a better quality of life for everyone.

Gemma

Hi, my name is Gemma and I’m a psychologist. Firstly, I would like to apologise for the lack of photo and personal info here, I work with vulnerable people, and so to ensure that there is no conflict of interest with my role, I have asked to remain anonymous.

I was so excited when I was asked to be a part of this, I feel I have been an observer of this company since its early days, and have seen some of the great things that Zara and Leah have done. I feel that there are so many factors involved with well-being that sometimes we need more holistic approaches.

I know that life is getting harder for most people, there are so many societal issues today, and so many people are living through difficult experiences. That is why it is important to find connection with other people, do things that give us a sense of meaning, allow us the time to focus on ourselves and just enjoy ourselves when we can. I think Zala Wellbeing allows the opportunity for this. I look forward to being more involved and feel so honoured to be joining this team

Ellie

After a life-changing bereavement, I discovered Zala Wellbeing. Attending their circles, events, and workshops has profoundly benefited my mental health and personal growth. Through my journey with Zala, I've learned to build a healthier, more balanced life by understanding the importance of rest, self-care, working with some darker parts of the self but also finding moments of joy. I've become more attuned to my own needs, learning to listen to myself, embracing my feelings, and practice self-soothing.

With a background in well-being and mental health support, I believe in supporting individuals holistically, recognizing the importance of rest, self-care, and the need to be heard and feel validated. Listening to others' experiences is essential in this journey.

Zala Wellbeing's holistic approaches and the connections I've made have provided me with a wide range of tools to support my well-being. I'm grateful to be part of the wonderful work that Zala Wellbeing does, and I look forward to helping others on their journeys.

our Approach

Here at Zala Wellbeing, we want to empower all beings to live with more joy and peace in their lives.

We do this by providing psychoeducation, both on a one to one basis and during our group sessions.

Our interactive sessions are designed to teach you how to improve your well-being. We facilitate both online and face-to-face groups so no matter where you are, you can get the benefit.  Some of our sessions come with worksheets you can complete before, during and after to help you gain the best understanding. As with all our sessions, we hope they teach you how to improve your well-being daily, not just when you’re at the session. Our aim is to get you to a level of understanding that you don’t need us anymore.

Our affordable worksheets are written by us and are designed to be easy to understand. All too often the thought of recovery from mental illness and understanding how to have good mental health can seem complicated and difficult to access without long waiting lists. Our worksheets remove any complicated jargon and take it right back to basics. If there ever is something you are struggling to understand, please ask. We are very approachable and happy to further break down a technique that might have a big impact on your life.

our Products

Our products are specially selected for you to take care of your well-being - to encourage you to start putting yourself first.

We are very committed to improving our environment. This is evident in our products, shipping and practices. We will do our best to ensure that what we provide, regarding resources for workshops or products on our website, is as eco-friendly as possible. We understand that in some ways whatever we do we will always have an impact on the planet but we will do our best to limit petrol usage, plastic packaging, and electricity consumption.
