Meet the Team

Our team brings together experience from many paths — psychology, nursing, nature connection, ritual, and community care. Between us, we hold over twenty years of work in healthcare, wellbeing, and education.

At Zala Wellbeing, we believe healing happens through integration — mind, body, earth, and spirit working together.

Zara

I’m Zara, the Co founder of Zala Wellbeing. Born and raised in the South Wales Valleys, I understand the unique challenges faced by people in our community — from the lasting impact of the pandemic to the ongoing struggles with poverty and limited services. For too long, well-being has been overlooked, leaving many unsure how to maintain good mental health or find joy in their daily lives. At Zala Wellbeing, I aim to change that.

My work is rooted in both personal experience and professional expertise. As someone who has lived through anxiety, depression, and loss — and as a cPTSD survivor — I know that healing is possible when we learn to live in a way that truly supports our well-being.

I have worked in health and social care for 20 years, with the past five years focused specifically on mental health. I'm trained in delivering psychoeducation and have supported many individuals in improving all areas of their lives. Alongside my professional background, I bring my gifts as a circle facilitator, breathwork teacher, and mindfulness guide, blending evidence-based practices with ancient wisdom to create meaningful experiences for those I work with. I also incorporate energy-based techniques designed to support emotional release, relaxation, and inner balance, helping people feel more grounded and connected.

At Zala Wellbeing, I offer a space for connection, growth, and healing — a space where people can rediscover their strength, reconnect with the natural world, and create lives filled with greater balance and joy.

I believe that by understanding ourselves more deeply and embracing simple, sustainable practices, we can nurture our well-being and build stronger, more supportive communities.

I look forward to welcoming you to Zala Wellbeing.

Alexandra

Greetings, I'm Alexandra — it’s a great feeling and a blessed honour to be joining the Zala Wellbeing team. Originally from Hampshire, my home is now in the South of Wales.

For me, community and wellbeing are deeply interconnected, and my journey with wellbeing has created this portal. Many years ago, on the path of meditation and mindfulness, I aligned with the wisdom of energies and how my emotions are related so deeply to how they either flow or become blocked. I had a hunger for this mysterious wisdom, and it led me to the chakra systems.

As my path evolved, I found myself able to navigate both my own and others’ energetic bodies through healing. A plethora of exciting abilities continue to develop and grow alongside ancient wisdom.

I am a Reiki Master/Teacher, and it is intrinsic to my nature to create with the elements around me, just as our ancestors were guided.

My specialities include shamanism, plant medicine ceremonies — such as cacao, mugwort, or rose to name a few — womb healing, chakra clearing, cleansing, and sound healing sessions.

I feel blessed to bring these gifts to Zala Wellbeing and to share in our collective empowerment together.

Sophie

Many of you may already know me but my name is Sophie. I have worked nearly 13 years in care followed by 3 years as a qualified nurse. I currently work in Rowans Hospice in Hampshire and am pleased to have been able to accept a voluntary role as Director for Zala wellbeing.

I believe that everyone has the ability to make positive changes to their health and well-being in order to better care for their own body, mind and spirit. To have the opportunity to work for a company that can help guide people towards a more holistic and happy way of life is an honour. Zala wellbeing creates an opportunity for each and every one of its members to not only learn how to care for themselves holistically but also gives them the opportunity to share that knowledge with their community and their children and together we can work towards a healthier, happier lifestyle and a better quality of life for everyone.

Gemma

Hi, my name is Gemma and I’m a psychologist. Firstly, I would like to apologise for the lack of photo and personal info here, I work with vulnerable people, and so to ensure that there is no conflict of interest with my role, I have asked to remain anonymous.

I was so excited when I was asked to be a part of this, I feel I have been an observer of this company since its early days, and have seen some of the great things that Zara and Leah have done. I feel that there are so many factors involved with well-being that sometimes we need more holistic approaches.

I know that life is getting harder for most people, there are so many societal issues today, and so many people are living through difficult experiences. That is why it is important to find connection with other people, do things that give us a sense of meaning, allow us the time to focus on ourselves and just enjoy ourselves when we can. I think Zala Wellbeing allows the opportunity for this. I look forward to being more involved and feel so honoured to be joining this team

Caroline

Hello, I’m Caroline and I am absolutely thrilled to be joining the team at Zala Wellbeing. I had a successful career as a nursery and forest school teacher until I suffered from a burnout and started to lose my sight at age 27.

I had to stop working in order to heal myself, physically but also mentally, since they are so closely linked. Western medicine alone failed to fix me, I was told they did not understand why this was happening and that they were unsure of what else to do to help. I knew deep inside that this was linked to how much my soul was hurting and that if I wanted to get better, I would have to look into healing from a more holistic perspective.

I had to build myself back up after battling severe anxiety and depression for many years, and realised that if I wanted to get better, I had to reconnect to nature and live a slower, more grounded life. I became fascinated with holistic healing and was amazed at how everything I learnt seemed to be connected in a way.

Community, mindfulness, nutrition and spirituality were some of the most important factors in my recovery which is why I decided to retrain in health and nutrition and will soon be studying counselling skills.

It has been 3 years now, and I can proudly say that I have made a full recovery, both in my mental and physical health and I know I want to help others who are struggling. I am not sure I could have made such a formidable recovery without reaching out to family, friends and a community such as Zala Wellbeing and I really want to break the taboos around mental health. It is ok to not be ok. People care more than you think and it’s by bringing up these difficult conversations and coming together that we can implement real change and heal the world.

It took almost losing my sight to be able to see things clearly, this is a gift I am lucky enough to carry with me everyday and I would like to help others see the world as it can be too!

Our Approach

At Zala Wellbeing, we believe that every being deserves to live with more peace, joy, and connection — not as something to strive for, but as something to return to.

Our approach brings together the science of mental health and the wisdom of lived experience. We use psychoeducation, mindfulness, breathwork, and gentle embodiment practices to help people understand themselves and nurture lasting wellbeing.

Rooted in ritual and connection to the natural world, our work recognises that wellbeing is cyclical, not linear. We honour the rhythms of life — the seasons, the body, and the mind — creating space for both growth and rest.

Whether through one-to-one support, community groups, or educational sessions, we aim to make wellbeing accessible, practical, and deeply human. Our resources are written in plain language, free from jargon, and designed to empower people to integrate what they learn into daily life.

We don’t believe in dependency — our goal is to help you build understanding and confidence so that you can support your own wellbeing long after each session ends.

At its heart, Zala Wellbeing is about remembering how to be well — in mind, body, and spirit — and rediscovering the quiet wisdom that lives within and around us..
